scad extra workshop student work
I had the pleasure to instruct a scale model workshop at the Savannah College of Art & Design where I taught students to recreate miniature cabins from “The Underground Railroad.” The workshop was once a week for six weeks, and students learned how to use a scale ruler, build from scale drawings in 1/2” scale, assemble a basswood model by hand, and paint and weather the final product. While the overall structure of the Cabins were the same, I instructed/directed each student individually based on their available time, their skillsets, and research images they preferred. As a result, each student had a slightly different end product that was uniquely theirs (different paintjobs, roofs, siding, some more complete than others, etc).
